Welcome to DIMUN IIWelcome to the second annual Dulwich International Model United Nations conference, hosted by Dulwich College Beijing International School from 24th-26th February, 2012. DIMUN II is a Key Stage 3 (Middle School) Model UN conference, which allows students in Years 7 to 9 (Grades 6 to 8) to research issues and then represent countries as delegates while striving to find a globally applicable and acceptable solution to these international problems. DIMUN II will give all delegates the opportunity to practice their diplomacy and debate skills, and expand their international understanding. Key Stage 4/5 (High School) students in Years 10 to 13 (Grades 9 to 12) may apply to be a committee Chair, who mediate and guide delegates throughout debate. Students in Years 8 to 10 (Grades 7 to 9) and are interested in journalism or writing may apply to join our press team that will produce our daily newspaper, DIMUNITE. We aim to have small committees with around 25 delegates to ensure that each student is given the chance to actively participate in debate. We encourage older and experienced MUN students to apply as Chairs, so as to better guide and encourage the younger delegates. We gladly invite international schools in China and abroad to register to participate in DIMUN II. Thank you to all schools who participated in DIMUN I - we hope to see you again next February! MUN Directors, you can find out how your school can participate here. If you have any questions about the conference, please do not hesitate to email dimun@dulwich-beijing.cn. Student OfficersDIMUN II Secretary-General : Benjamin Tan Honourable Model United Nations Directors, esteemed delegates, welcome guests, admirable press and committee Chairs, I am proud to be serving as your Secretary-General at the upcoming conference. I have been participating in Model United Nations for over four years now and this will be my tenth MUN conference. With last year's success of DIMUN I with over 130 participants, DIMUN II promises to be an even better conference. I believe MUN is not just an after school activity to pass time, but a critical experience to prepare students for living in an ever-smaller international community. The United Nations was formed in the belief that if the countries of our world join together, we are better faced to solve problems that affect us all; it is in that spirit that we created this DIMUN conference.. I believe it is our responsibility as global citizens to do what we can to reach innovative, practical, and researched resolutions to these global issues. Key Stage 4/5 students, we welcome your applications to gain one of our rewarding positions as committee Chair or take part in our rigorous DIMUNITE press team. Key Stage 3 students, this conference revolves around you, and we need your participation as delegates to ensure the success of this conference. I am incredibly excited for DIMUN II! Until then, if you have any queries regarding the conference, do not hesitate to contact me at benjamin.tan@dulwich-beijing.cn. DIMUN II Deputy Secretary-General : Kyoka Kosugi Honourable Directors, esteemed delegates, respected press and committee Chairs, welcome guests, I am Kyoka Kosugi, and I am honoured to be serving as your Deputy Secretary-General. This is my fourth year taking part in MUN, and DIMUN II will be my sixth MUN conference. Being actively involved in MUN has opened many new doors for me, and has become one of the greatest choices I've made yet. MUN is not only about representing government bodies and engaging in fruitful debates, but also about working together with other delegates who hold different ideas to reach a deeper understanding of the world we live in today. I hope that DIMUN II will be able to provide delegates with this opportunity. I am looking forward to DIMUN II, and will do my best to give you another successful conference. Please do not hesitate to contact me for any inquiries concerning the conference at kyoka.kosugi@dulwich-beijing.cn. DIMUN II Deputy Secretary-General : Richard (Zi) Zhuang Honourable Directors, respected press, committee Chairs, esteemed delegates, and welcome guests, My name is Richard Zhuang, and it is my privilege to serve in DIMUN II conference as your Deputy Secretary-General. This will be my third year taking part in taking part in Model United Nations and DIMUN II will be my fifth conference. MUN has not only given me countless opportunities to work together with others and engage in constructive debate, but has also allowed me to improve my leadership skills, public speaking, organisation, analysis of international problems, and given me a better understanding of the world as it is today. I hope that this opportunity will also be given to the delegates of DIMUN II. I am eagerly awaiting next year's DIMUN II conference, and will do my best to deliver an unforgettable conference. Please do not hesitate to contact me for any inquiries regarding the conference at zi.zhuang@dulwich-beijing.cn. DIMUN I ArchiveTo find out more about DIMUN I, click here!
